Organize a conference HUB of XVIII INTERNATIONAL AIDS CONFERENCE July 18-23
in your region

Conference hubs are physical locations around the world where selected sessions of the conference will be screened, and will be followed by a moderated local discussion to examine how the content of the session may be used to strengthen the response to HIV locally.

There are two types of conference hubs:

Independent conference hubs hosted by individual or organisations around the world.

Official conference hubs based in Moscow (Russia) , Kiev (Ukraine) organized by ECUO and Almaty (Kazakhstan)

Who should participate in conference hubs?

Everybody is welcome. Access to conference hubs is free and open to everyone. Do not hesitate to join the closest conference hub to share your experience and knowledge in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Why organize a conference hub in your region?

As the AIDS 2010 conference in Vienna won’t be able to welcome everyone, conference hubs represent a unique opportunity for scientists, individuals engaged in the community response to HIV and leaders across many different sectors to benefit from the conference outcomes from their own location.

Conference hubs will give the opportunity to build professional capacity at the regional level by accessing the relevant content presented at AIDS 2010, including information on best practices, and organizing trainings and/or workshops for local stakeholders.

Conference hubs will facilitate discussions and debates among local stakeholders to help strengthen the response to HIV and AIDS, with the potential to contextualize the outcomes and prepare a comprehensive plan for future actions at local or regional level.

Organisations hosting a conference hub will also have a unique chance to engage regional leadership, by mobilizing local leaders and commit them for concrete actions. They will gain credibility and visibility as an efficient local actor towards external partners by proving its capacities to mobilize people and resources.

Who can organize a conference hub?

We welcome any individual or organization active in the fight against HIV/AIDS anywhere around the world.

If you are a local NGOs, a faith-based organizations, a clinic or hospital, a university or a medical school, a government or UN body, you can get started and register your conference hub on website www.aids2010.org

How can I organize a conference hub?

Organizing a hub is easy but needs some human and financial resources as well as time and leadership. We invite you to identify clearly your organization’s objectives and capacities and the expected outcome before registering your hub on line.  For more information, please read the conference hubs guidelines.

Please note:
Registration starts on 16 March 2010

How much does it cost?

The conference content (50 sessions) will be provided free of charge and many items should be available for free inside your organization or network.

However, the organization of a conference hub may request some additional expenses such as booking a specific venue, secure a broadband internet connection, hire technical material (such as computer, projector, screen), provide some catering and pay for additional human resources if necessary.

For all these expenses, the registered organizations or individuals running a conference hub will provide its own financial resources. Please note that AIDS 2010 do not provide any financial support for the independent conference hubs.

If you have any questions, please contact
hubs@aids2010.org.
